Day 1 - Friday May 11th

It's Friday the 11th of May and we are sitting in our hotel in Boston.  This is the end of the first day of our trip to Ireland.  Appropriately, it started out cold and overcast, rare for Denver.

Tracy and Owyn, chillin.

We got to start out the day with a nice, leisurely, morning.  We were all up by 0630, but didn't really have anywhere to be.  The boys were bouncing off the ceilings, they were so excited to go on our vacation.  We had left overs for breakfast, finished packing and waited for 0900, when my cousin was going to arrive to take us to the airport.  I had to run some paperwork down to the Dr, but that only took half an hour and I was back home.

The trip to the airport was quick and painless.  We unloaded, said goodbye to Brit and headed in.  Check in was a breeze.  Security was quick and easy and we were through.  The boys wanted to ride the train, so we did that, then headed off to the gate with forty five minutes to spare.  The boy's patience was tried sorely by the wait.  They wanted to get on the plane "NOW".  "I can't take it anymore!" (Owyn).

We got to board in the first group, happily for everyone's health.  Rhys and I were in aisle five and Tracy and Owyn were in four, right ahead of us.  Rhys happily plugged in his head phones and watched cartoon network.  The three and a half hour flight felt longer, and the boys were starting to get "franky"  (cranky) by the time we got there.  Since we were near the front of the plane we were first off.

Our port of entry to Boston.

We waited about ten minutes to get our bags and headed out to wait for the shuttle to the hotel.  62 minutes later if finally showed up.  Tracy had  bent back her finger nail trying to snatch Rhys up when he got too close to the curb.  Rhys had a scratch from where Mama snatched him up.  Owyn was being a turd head.

The drive to the hotel was startling.  I've never seen so many completely inept drivers.  I didn't see a single person driving well.  Our driver pulled into an intersection and completely blocked it for an entire cycle of a light.  Check in was quick and easy, at least.  The hotel had Avengers keys and the lady at the desk made sure that each boy had a full set of six keys.  Very nice.

Crab Cakes, yum.

By this time it was 1930 and we were not in the mood to go looking for a place to eat.  We decided to try the hotel restaurant.  Wow.  We sat there for ten minutes before anyone came to our table.  At one point there were four staff for four tables and we still weren't getting service.  Tracy had crab cakes, yum.  I had clam chowder, also yum.  My dinner was chicken parmigiana, meh.   The boys ate a little bit but were not too excited for dinner.

After dinner we all hit the pool, trying to wear out the boys out.  They jumped off the edge, they swam to the corner.  They held onto my neck as I swam them down and back, even going underwater.  A good time was had by all, but we called it when Owyn's lips turned blue and he was shivering.

Rhys is ready for bed.

We got back to our room where we are all sitting around in jammies, unwinding and getting ready for bed.  We are going to sleep with one boy and one parent in each bed.  It's going to be a rough night.
